Tom considers himself an "accidental real estate agent".
Seventeen years ago, he was starting to buy investment properties
and had five children about to buy houses. He decided to
become licensed to save money on commission. As he became
more involved in the business, he discovered that he liked
it and took an early retirement from the federal government
to devote full time to real estate.
In his prior life, he founded the graduate program in Public Administration at the University of Missouri and the Institute of Urban Studies at the University of Maryland. The academic phase, which includes writing fifteen books, was sandwiched between two stints in the Federal government with GAO, FAA, NASA (Deputy Asst. Admin for Legislation), The Federal Executive Institute (Director), and HHS (Deputy Asst. Secretary). His active duty military service was with the Marine Corps and the Air Force.
Tom began his real estate career selling houses in Montgomery County and gradually added Washington to his sales activity. In 1998 he extended to Northern Virginia. He now has an effective team, which provides top-flight real estate services throughout the metropolitan area.
Tom has a wall full of awards. By 1990 he was selling more properties in Washington than any other agent of any company. Over the next ten years he was first in sales transactions nine times and second once. In a business with over 3,000 competitors this is quite a feat. Three times in the 1990s he also ranked as one of the top 15 listing agents in Montgomery County.
In 1994, Tom was eleventh in the nation in listing transactions among over 25,000 Prudential agents. In 1999, he was third in the nation in transactions among 28,000 agents of the national ERA sales force.
In 1997, 1998, and 1999 he ranked either first, second, or third in sales transactions in the metropolitan area of the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors (over 6,000 agents in Washington and Maryland).
Tom's specialties are representing sellers of houses, townhouses,
condos and coops as a listing agent and providing effective
representation for buyers throughout the metropolitan area.
He has been a Certified Buyer Representative since 1994.
He has settled over $500 million of real estate in metropolitan
Washington. |
